What to Know About the 2024 Toyota bZ4X?

The 2024 Toyota bZ4X receives several small changes that go a long way to make it more convenient and more desirable for its second model year on the market. Here is an overview of the model for 2024.

Faster charging in cold weather

The 2024 Toyota bZ4X comes with new features aimed at making the charging process easier and more convenient, especially in cold weather. For example. the digital multi-information display now provides drivers with additional charging information such as current charge state, estimated range, and estimated time to 80% charge in order to make it easier to plan longer road trips.

In response to demands from owners of the 2023 version, Toyota engineers have reworked the battery’s thermal management system by adding a water-to-water heat exchanger that helps warm up the battery faster, to achieve faster DC charging speeds when using a level-3 public charging station.

More standard features

The 2024 Toyota bZ4X benefits from more standard features than the 2023 model since last year’s entry-level L version was abandoned, making the LE trim level the new entry point of the bZ4X lineup. This means that every 2024 bZ4X comes standard with items such as heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, the radiant foot and leg warmer, sport fabric upholstery, and the rear-cross traffic alert system.

Advanced technologies

The bZ4X features the Toyota Multimedia system, which integrates wirelessly with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and features Toyota’s newest interface. The vehicle also comes with an impressive package of safety features, including Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. This suite of driver assistance technologies includes systems such as forward collision warning with pedestrian and motorcycle detection, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and the road sign information system.

Three trim levels

Toyota Canada offers the 2024 bZ4X in three grades: LE FWD, XLE AWD, and XLE Technology Package. The LE FWD model includes features like 18-inch alloy wheels, Toyota Multimedia with Service Connect, Safety Connect, Remote Connect, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen display.

The XLE AWD model adds features like sport fabric and Softex upholstery, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, fixed panoramic moonroof with shade, and the HomeLink garage door opener.

The XLE Technology Package builds on the XLE AWD model, adding features like 20-inch alloy wheels, a premium JBL audio system with nine speakers, full Softex upholstery, as well as heated and ventilated power-adjustable front seats.

A choice of two powertrains

The 2024 Toyota bZ4X comes with a choice of two fully-electric powertrains. The LE FWD version uses a single motor driving the front axle that generates 201 horsepower. With a 71.4 kWh battery, this powertrain delivers a range of 406 kilometres. The other mechanical option for the bZ4X is a dual-motor setup that adds all-wheel drive by installing a second motor on the rear axle and a slightly larger 72.8 kWh. Doing so also increases the combined power output of the powertrain up to 214 horsepower, but reduces the range to 367 kilometers.
